Installation Guide needaresto for Windows Mobile


Thank you for downloading needaresto. Before starting the installation, we recommend that you carefully read this installation guide.

2 Requirements for needaresto

  • PC with ActiveSync (Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP) or PC with Windows Mobile Devicecenter (Windows Vista, Windows 7)

  • Mobile device with operating system Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1 or 6.5

  • Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5

  • Internet connection via WLAN or cell connection

  • Internal GPS receiver (optional)

  • Internal camera (optional)

3 .NET Compact Framework 3.5

To run needaresto, .NET Compact Framework 3.5 (Version 3.5.7283.0 or higher) is required. It will usually be available on devices with Windows Mobile 6.5. In this case please continue with step 4: Installing needaresto.

Devices with earlier versions may have  to be installed with  .NET Compact Framework 3.5.

3.1 Check installed .NET Compact Framework version

The versions of the .NET Compact Framework installed on a Windows Mobile device can be determined by launching \Windows\cgacutil.exe in the Windows path and comparing the displayed list of version numbers to the table at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.NET_Compact_Framework. More than one version can be installed on a device simultaneously.

        

3.2 Install .NET Compact Framework 3.5

If the required .NET Compact Framework version (3.5) is available on your device, continue with step 4:  Installing needaresto.   If not you are required to install it before using needaresto.  Start by installing the .NET Compact Framework on your PC.

  • Download the  NETCFSetupv35.msi  file onto your PC:

  • Start the file NETCFSetupv35.msi  and follow the installation instructions:

  • Accept the licence agreement:

  • Select complete installation:

  • Start the installation:

  • Wait until installation is finished:

  • Once installation is finished, you are advised that the mobile device will be synchronized on the next occasion it is connected to the computer. Confirm with „OK“:

  • Finalize setup by clicking  the „Finish“ button:

We recommend that you use ActiveSync for synchronizing your Mobile device (Windows XP or earlier). For Vista und Windows 7  devices the program is called Windows Mobile Devicecenter. You can download both applications from the Microsoft site:  http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/getstarted/getstarted.mspx

 As an alternative,  you can use a CAB file to directly  install the .NET Compact Framework 3.5 onto your device (see 3.2.2).

3.2.1 Install .NET Compact Framework 3.5 via ActiveSync

  • Connect the mobile device to the computer and establish the ActiveSync partnership.

  • If synchronizing is not started immediately,  use the Microsoft ActiveSync Extras menu and select Software …

  • Activate the .NET CompactFramework 3.5 and click  „OK“

  • Once synchronizing is finished, you will be prompted to check whether your mobile device requires additional steps to be taken. Confirm with „OK“:

  • You can now follow installation on your mobile device.
      

  • Once Microsoft .NET CF 3.5 CAB has been installed successfully, continue with step 4:  Installing Needaresto

3.2.2 Install .NET Compact Framework 3.5 via WindowsPhone (CAB)

If you do not want to use ActiveSync, you can install  .NET Compact Framework 3.5 with a CAB file.  From the directory C:\ProgramFiles\Microsoft.NET\SDK\CompactFramework\v3.5\WindowsCE copy the NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab file onto your mobile device. Start installation by clicking the file.

  • You can now follow installation on your mobile device.

      

4 Installing needaresto

  • Download the needaresto.cab file onto your mobile device. Start installing the application by clicking the file in the Explorer.

  • If you will be informed that the application has not been certified, you can disregard this  information. Continue installation by clicking „Yes“.

  • Once installation is finished, the application is available in the Windows start menu. 
      

5 Uninstall needaresto

To uninstall the application, go to Windows Start -> Settings. Select the System tab and click Remove programs.  Select ISV Comitatus needaresto and click Remove.
